Date counting in Excel if the actually date is has not been entered yet???

I'm having trouble with a formula for Ex2007.

I've got a series of dates (issued dates) and I want to populate a ticker for example that counts how many days it's been since it was sent.
which then stops counting when the sate received has been entered.

Can anyone help please?

for example: =today()  18/06/2016

Date Sent No.
of days since sent Date received
01/06/2013 18 tbc

Assuming your Date sent is at A1,  then give this formula at B1
=IF(C1="",TODAY()-A1,C1-A1)

I assumed that your Received date is to be entered at C1.

So if C1 will be blank, then it will give the days sent date to Today
Once the received date is entered then it will give days only till received date.
