cannot add to Favorites ie9 windows 7 / read-only properties locked

I have found the Favorites folder under c:/users/home/favorites and have attempted to change the properties from read only.
Every time I change the properties and apply, some auto microsoft input overrides the change immediately.  When I re-open up the favorites folder properties, its back to read only.
