Solution to Problem: Another Internal Drive Hiccups

Another Internal Drive Hiccups

Hello everyone,

I recently noticed that my main boot (C:) drive was making loud noises and would lag whenever loading into Windows 7 (stuck at a black screen with movable white mouse cursor), so I assumed that its lifespan was nearly over.
I was tired of how long it took
to load into windows, so I decided to just reformat to see if it would help any.
The C: drive boots normally and I have a working computer for the time being (but I have nothing stored on this drive just in case it does decide to die).

One problem that I noticed recently though is that whenever I play media files (music or movies) from my other internal (E:) drive in my computer tower, there would be hiccups.
The media player would pause for about 1-5 seconds, and I would hear the internal
(E:) hard disk whirring up as if I had just accessed it.
I can understand that there may be a boot up time when I FIRST access the drive, but why does it need to "turn on" while I'm in the middle of playing a media file (isn't it already on since I started
playing the file)?

Please help me out because I am uncertain whether this is an issue occurring because of the aforementioned C:drive, or if the problem is with my E: drive.
It worries me because the E: drive worked fine prior to reformatting, so I don't know what to make
of this situation.
Thank you in advance for reading about my problem!

Thanks,
Minh
