I am currently using a cable modem/ethernet cable to connect to the internet.  I recently purchased a new desktop PC (e machines model ET1831-07) with Windows 7.  Plugged the ethernet cable in, but can't connect to the internet.  Cable modem/ethernet cable
both work fine on my laptop (the one on which I'm currently typing.)  Tried troubleshooting, but Windows can't seem to figure out the problem.
Also, when I try to connect to the internet through the network and internet window, it says I require a username and password from my ISP to connect.  Since I use a cable modem, I don't have a username or password (and I called and verified this with my
ISP.)
